A question about housing boom in AUSTRALIA?
In
last 10 years average price of a house in all the majore cities in
Australia has increased to 200%. Say for example a house which cost
$100,000 is now about $300,000. Further, rent also gone up. Seamingly,
there is no end to this trend.
While few makes money out of it, millions suffer to pay martgage. This
is not a good thing for the future generation.
Is there a way to stop this trend?

It
isn't all areas that have gone up the same, but all we hear in the
Newspapers are the extremes.
An example is the Sydney western suburbs; in 1990 I bought a standard 3
bed house for $105,000 in a good area there. Today, a few very similar
ones are selling for about $330,000.
That works out at an average of only 6.95% per year over 18 years.
However, the "average" prices for the area have increased by a higher %
figure over that period, but mainly due to larger and more expensive
houses being wanted these days.
More recently, the overall Sydney market has only gone up 5% in the 12
months to March 2008, Perth by 1.5% and Hobart by 4.3%
Different areas rise at different times, and currently Brisbane,
Melbourne and Adelaide are playing catch up.
Part of the answer is to build smaller houses again, 3 beds, 1 bath,
single garage, no dishwasher, no media room, etc..

Invest all of that into realestate... Bricks and Mortar .. never fails .. trust me!

invest your money else where like the stock market probably wouldn't suggest into real estate since its so expense to manage a rental house, you would have to wait years for the property price to (possibly) increase and you don't have that much money write a resume look at jobs on careerone.com and apply for any that interest you since your a student i am guessing your not looking for fulltime work? and you wont get 'good' money also im not sure why you want a van, courier companies provide there own vehicles

How much can I make at a minimum wage job in two months?
Hey there, I just got a part time job at Dairy Queen and my basic goal is to save up enough money to go to Australia for a week in the summer. I'll be working whenever I can, so I was wondering if anyone knows how much I can approximately make in two months with a part time job? I live in Canada by the way.

How much will you earn each day? Minimum wage varies between countries and even varies in different states! If you earn like 50 dollars in 8 hours and multiply for 20 work days, you'd be earning a bit over 1000 dollars. Check airplane tickets at online websites. For example, an average plane ticket from Toronto to Sydney costs between 1800-2000 dollars. So, if you earn 1000 dollars a month, you would need to work 2 months to pay for the plane ticket. Then add up hotel costs, food costs and entertainment costs for the amount of weeks you would be there. Let's say you need 4000 dollars for a 10 day trip because you want to go to a nice hotel and do some activities. You would need to save your money for almost 4 months to pay for it.

Hey Guys! Im hoping to go on a holiday to england about this time next year to visit my older sister. Im 15 and need to save up for money i live in australia and at this point i cant find a job i have been looking EVERY WHERE! im having a garage sale this weekend but i need more ideas to earn more money....im well aware how much it will cost me and that i have to pay for things over there and luggage and clothes so don't bother telling me about that, and im prepared for when the time comes and i don't have enough money so i know what im doing and i have done my research and just want to know how to earn more money. Cheers Guys Xx

Look harder for a job. Get two part time jobs. Expecting or looking for money without working is not realistic.

I think that paid surveys are the best way because you don't need some skills.You can work only when you want and to make money from home.Than't cool. And you can make up to $75/hour, that is true.

Cons I feel that if we become a republic it will have a hidden cost. this being we should always remember this Country has a Constitution that was formed many years ago by men who had decent moral values and the attitude of not what's in it for me but one of what will this do to my and everyone else who lives here. Any change will result in the pollies trying to manipulate the constitution to fit their ideas of what's in it for my mob. It works well why change it remember it sacked Whitlam Powerful stuff when needed..

What jobs are there not enough people for in Australia?
Because my mum is from ireland and when she was in her 20's she worked in Australia as a nurse and when she went back to ireland (because she was missing her family too much) they tried to make her stay with money and stuff as they had such a lack of nurses in Australia and am just wondering what other jobs they need in australia?

There has always been a demand for good hairdressers in Australia. I've heard that to become qualified it is quite a long apprenticeship though. Here's a list of vacancies at present. http://mycareer.com.au/jobs/-/trades/hairdressing/ Nurses are always in demand too and many of my UK female friends here in Australia have gained visas through that avenue.

Competent, honest and effective Politicians. We just cannot find enough of them. Out of 22 million people , all we get is liars and cheats.

Our list of needed occupations is the Skilled Occupations List (SOL). If you don't have qualifications and experience in one of the jobs on there, you will not get a work visa unless you have state government or employer sponsorship. http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/new-list-of-occupations.pdf The MODL list given in the first answer was revoked on 8 February this year and is no longer valid. Hairdresser is one of the trades that was on the MODL and is not on the new SOL.
