There's not really any need for them, except for in a private security firm (eg bouncers and body guards). And there is a lot of competition in those areas. You arent likely to get a really great position in them unless you have been special forces.

When you say 'without having a job' - do you mean working for an employer? If so, become self-employed - start your own business, set your own agenda. When I was in Australia many young Aussies worked 'for the Government' - i.e., on benefits. I though this was so sad as I had always thought of Australians as tough go-getters. There are so many opportunities in Oz - look around and see what you can do as regards your own business. www.save-money-guide.com

Don't know about Australia but... I also set out on this very noble quest for a while. In america, when you're 18 and fit certain requirements, you can sign up to do medical case studies. The need healthy patients for the control. I don't really recommend it, It can screw you up something awful. BUT! You can lay in a bed for a week or two playing video games. The one I did three years ago paid out $2000 for two weeks. Good luck on finding something.

how much money do i need in a month in australia for a living?

how much money do i need in a month in australia for a living?
well, i'm courious about it because... not me but a friend wants to move there. and i was wandering of how much money can you make a living in australia? (i have a habit of buying some new clothes every other month, also i'm a bit snobbish /okay, okay not a bit/, i love the opera and cinema, and i buy some books every week.) However, does anybody know how much money can i make from being a private teacher? i speak french quite fairily, maybe i could occupy myself of children. what do you think? okay, i am not. i mean qualified. i'm just trying to figure out what the hell i could do in australia if had to make my own living. anyway, i would like to go to some art school, university something like that.

If you are qualified as a private teacher, you will survive quite comfortably in Australia.

The whole question is completely academic if you are not a New Zealander. They are the only people from overseas who are allowed to work legally in Australia without skills and qualifications in certain specified occupations in which Australia has a shortage of workers. You would not be able to get a visa. Anyway, you would be unlikely to make enough money on a regular basis as an unqualified private teacher to pay for accomodation and your other expenses. If you wish to come as a student, you may be able to get a student visa, but you would only be allowed to work for a maximum of 20 hours per week during the semester. Also, you must have arranged your course and been accepted prior to entering the country. See http://www.immi.gov.au/immigration.htm for more information on working in Australia.

unless you are a skilled worker in a field that australia needs you will not have much luck qualifying to move to australia

Ozmaniac is 100% correct.

Send money to Australia?

Send money to Australia?
I live in the US and I need to send money to Australia to buy a movie for around US $40 dollars. They don't have paypal and no way to accept payment on there website. The options they gave me were to send credit card information by email. I don't think this would be a safe idea. The other option is a check made out in Australia funds, but my bank nor any other bank I've talked to will make a check out in AUS dollars so I can send it. What would be my best option to getting money to them? Thanks

ask them if they will except Western Union-- that is a safe way... and you don't have to give any credit information.
