Mining jobs in Australia, good money? How do you get started with no experience?

Mining jobs in Australia, good money? How do you get started with no experience?
Im single healthy male living in NZ and am constantly broke despite budgeting. Im sick of it and want to try mining in Aus because Ive heard its a good way to save $. Eventually I want to travel, study (or both) followed by a family and house; but theres no way Im ever going to be able to if I continue here. Can anyone help? Is it possible to make good $ in the mines for a "green but keen" beginner? Where do I apply, I can leave tomorrow!!! Hey there, thanks for all of your answers, I really appreciate it. Im 30 years old and well ready for this change. If it means I have to spend $1000 to get the job its well worth it. Theres alot of spam online e.g. websites saying they will send you information packs etc for $300 + but I need a credible source or want to go straight to the "coal face" or company.

at the moment for an unskilled worker it's $35 an hour and 10 days on and four off but it seems very difficult to get into even with experience unless you know some one who can help. Perhaps a holiday in some of the mining towns would reveal more information but accommodation is very hard to come by as well. Sorry that's all the information I have learnt and unless you can travel to some of these sources it seems a closed shop and perhaps a pipe dream. You need to budget and keep a tighter control on spending as the chances of making money seem to depend on you having it to start. So start saving for a chance to improve your lot in the future. Maybe even a second job could give you a breather. Good luck

The mines in Australia are very good money, but like said hard to get into... I'm trying as well. Pretty much pre-requisit is your HR-licence (heavy truck)

From what I heard its pretty easy to get work in mining towns. But you need to atleast have a truck license or something. Its good money if your willing to spend your time in a town in the middle of the dessert with a 95% male population.

You don't mention your age but poor fulltime wages would be $50K USD for any work up North WA, even FIFO (fly in fly out from Perth). Once you gain additional operator licences and experience you can rake $100K per annum. Senior managers are regularly offered $200K plus benefits to work FIFO basis. The work is hot and hard though and the cost of living is high, especially housing. There are tax breaks for residents living above the 28th parallel and stunning scenic landscapes in the Midwest, Pilbara and Kimberley regions to take advantage of.

Hi, you sound very keen about it, good on you. Some advise for you though, make sure you have plenty of $$ in the bank before you move to aussie looking for mining work. I live in Qld, and have been trying for 2yrs solid to get into the mines,i have tried moving to Mackay to help my chances, accomodation anywhere up there is very very expensive, food, petrol the same. I had a full time job,and still struggled. You will need to first do a Generic Induction Course $400+ Mining Medical $180 HR truck licence (about $1000) depends on how many lessons you need. First Aid cert is highly recommended and anything similar. If you can get experience in truck driving, grader, frontend loader or similar you may have a better chance. The internet is really the only way in,just keep applying, and dont let the knockbacks get you down. I wish you the best of luck mate, just be prepared for it to take awhile.

Minimum wages for an adult will be around $15-$20/hr. Adelaide will be a lot cheaper than Sydney and Melbourne. Pretty much all the property available in Australia is listed on www.domain.com.au and/or www.realestate.com.au as these sites re owned by the two major newspaper chains. See www.ato.gov.au/individuals, click on link for 'work out your tax', 'income tax rates'.

If you are interested in working in Sydney why not look at living in Wollongong. The northern suburbs are still quite expensive but you can get a decent two bedroom rental in North Wollongong for around $250 a week. From there you can easily catch the train up to the city for work. It's about 1.5 hours south of Sydney CBD. Here is the income tax rates for you. http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/content.asp?doc=/content/12333.htm&mnu=42590&mfp=001

In general keep in mind the further out you are from the centre of a city the cheaper it is to rent. Also you may spend quite a while commuting. In saying that you can get a 3 bedroom house on the outskirts of Sydney for cheaper than an apartment in the city centre. The other responses have provided great websites, just keep in mind most rental quotes are for per week rent unless otherwise stated. If you want an idea of more specific pay rates and job availablity for your particular career http://www.careerone.com.au is at least one decent websites, use that in conjunction with the tax rates websites provided above to gain a better understanding. Also medical and dental are not usually considered part of the wage package as it is in the US, mainly because citizens are covered under our free public health program (except dental) and you would most likely need to pay your own private insurance. Also pay rates can lower in some cities than others, for example you get paid less in Hobart than Sydney, but you also pay less for housing so it can generally balance out. Just some further information on tax, when you get a pay slip it shows what is called PAYG (Pay As You Go) tax, which is the basic income that all people pay. Also by law your employer must pay 8% of your wage/salary into a superannuation fund. Most other items taken off pay are by choice which can include paying back a government debt (which can also be court ordered), extra into superannuation and even paying back government university fees (which is compulsory repayment if you earn over a certain amount, based on the Consumer Price Index, though you can pay more by choice). One also pays a Medicare levy (as a citizen), which covers the public health system, and if you have private health insurance you maybe eligible for a rebate at tax time. Also our tax year is 1 July - 30 June.

How can I make $300 online for free?

How can I make $300 online for free?
I'm in my early teens. I want to make $300 from the internet, 100% free and legitimate only. I live in Australia, I don't have a pay pal account and i really don't want to make one. So if money can be sent via cheque would be great.

A great job and way for Teens to make money is by doing Free Surveys Online. Its simple, easy and for ages 13 and up. check this blog for more info and Proof of Payments http://Job4Teens.blogspot.com
2 :
How do you think you can make money for free other than dishonestly? You'll have to work for it 'offline' - try cleaning cars, gardening etc. - won't take you long. You don't have or want a Paypal account as you have to be 18 (and legally and financially responsible and sue-able) to get one! Whereas you can have cheques paid into an account for a minor whatever the source.

there are numerous ways to earn money online, but most of them require certain registration fee. if you wish to earn without investing anything, then i will suggest you PTC sites, where u get money to click advertisements.................. i myself is earning respectable side income from them. all you have to do is register and start clicking advertisements right away. You might earn slow in the beginning but once u buy refferal packs from the money u've earned, it multiplies your earnings and speeds it up. and moreover its a totally genuine and scamfree way of earning. PATIENCE IS THE KEY i signed up for many PTC sites, among which many were scams and did not bother to pay me any money. but the link below indicates a list of those sites, from which im actually earning, on regular basis: http://www.geocities.com/make_online.money/earn_money_online.html works for minors as well !! (NO AGE RESTRICTIONS)

Didnt know you could just move in, thought you needed visas for work or a student, marriage, or something.
2 :
Some areas... YES! Honestly, I think Youtube would be a better choice these days! There's been more stories of young musicians being scouted on youtube then ever. That way you can start now and save your money!! Good luck!
3 :
Dont. Are you kiddingme? L.A SUCKS. I live in New Orleans, louisiana so...i hate that scene. You wont make it. Dont let songs inspire you. Who knows. Mayeb. But your throwing your life away for that? Hahah, right. Im a REAL musician i play piano^^
4 :
umm i am not sure how good you are. I think you should have a back up plan incase it doesn't work. If you keep working hard and, get people listening to you you might get a deal. Yes L.A. can be dangerous in parts, anywhere can really just be sure you are making the right decision and, have researched where you are going to live very well.
5 :
La is full of wannabe musicians anymore,To much competition there,Besides most record producers are looking in other areas these days.Yes Los Angeles can be a very dangerous place to live. You better have some real money if you want to live in any decent safe area.Any small one bedroom apt is going to run at least in the area of 1500 per month.
